Statement regarding the Cheshire West and Chester Severe Weather Emergency Protocol
|We operate a robust Severe Weather Emergency Protocol, which works to ensure that anyone who is homeless has access to services throughout the day, as well as the night time during the colder months. |
Working in close partnership with many agencies and local organisations we can ensure that everyone is brought in from the cold, regardless of their circumstances. Bed spaces are always on offer and, in extreme circumstances, B and B accommodation can also be used – meaning there is no need for anyone to be rough sleeping on a cold night unless they choose to.
This extended offer runs from the 1 November to the 31 March each year and is not only triggered when the temperature drops, but also in high wind and heavy rain.
The Cheshire West Severe Weather Emergency Protocol response goes over and above the government’s requirements (to be triggered when there are three or more days of sub-zero temperatures) and is activated any time temperatures are forecast to be below zero and also if there is a red weather warning.
There is a Rough-sleeper Hotline to call for help and advice, the number is 0300 123 1562.
