Award-winning training on offer for Approved Driving Instructors | |
11 June 2018Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Road Safety team is promoting a course for Approved Driving Instructors which aims to reduce collisions amongst young and inexperienced drivers. The award-winning Engage classroom-based course is available to support driving instructors to further develop the vital client-centred learning (CCL) skills required to meet the new Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency checks. Topics covered include: lesson planning, reflective and active learning strategies, problem solving and risk management. CCL is an educational approach that takes into account how the learner prefers to learn. When people learn in this way they are more likely to retain information and skills. People are also more likely to keep learning if they are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning at an early stage. The Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Karen Shore said: "The Engage programme is an innovative scheme for Approved Driving Instructors working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire Road Safety Partnership and Merseyside Road Safety Partnerships. “The course usually costs £140 but the partnership has obtained additional funding and I’m delighted that we are now able to offer the course for just £50.” Membership of the Engage Partnership and access to a wealth of additional resources is £25 annually. The training dates are as follows and instructors will need to attend both days:
