Cheshire West and Chester Council to host recruitment evening for registered social workers

4 March 2019

Social workers are being invited to find out about the benefits of working for Cheshire West and Chester Council Children's Services.

On Thursday 28 March, a recruitment event will be held at The Lion Salt Works, Northwich to give potential applicants an opportunity to hear first-hand about vacancies in the borough-wide Children with Disabilities Team and Children’s social work teams in Northwich and Winsford.

During the evening session at 6pm – 7.30pm (doors open 5:30pm), a team of social workers, team managers and senior managers, will be on hand to assist and advise, speaking about their own roles and experiences and answering questions about what it is like to work in the borough.

Director of Children’s Services, Emma Taylor, will also be in attendance to highlight the reasons to practice social work in the borough as well as the Council’s highly competitive package which includes flexible working, multiple employee benefits, professional support and a wealth of training opportunities.

Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Cheshire West and Chester Council commented: "We want to be sure we are recruiting people that are motivated and passionate about making a difference to the lives of our children and young people, helping us build on one of the most successful Ofsted inspections in the country.

"In return we can offer a high level of support and continuous learning and development - we have successfully 'grown our own' strong and permanent senior practice leads and team managers and are keen to continue this trend.

“Now is also a particularly exciting time to be joining the Council - we are in the midst of rolling out new ways of working, leading the way in transforming social work practice and have been approved as a Partner in Practice by the Department of Education, so we can support other Councils to improve their services.

"We believe that this is a great place to live and work and would encourage social workers who want to provide high-quality services for children and their families in Cheshire West and Chester to come along and see what we have to offer.” For more information or to register your interest in this event, please contact Penny Jeffery on 01244 973232/ or visit to find out more.
