Cheshire West and Chester Council to host social worker recruitment event

2 November 2017

Newly qualified and experienced social workers are being invited to find out about the benefits of working for Cheshire West and Chester Council Children's Services.

On Tuesday 21 November, a recruitment evening will be held at Wyvern House, Winsford to give potential applicants an opportunity to hear first-hand about a number of vacancies across Chester, Ellesmere Port and Winsford.

During the session from 6-8pm, a team of social workers, team managers and senior managers, will be on hand to assist and advise, speaking about their own roles and experiences and answering questions about what it is like to work in the borough.

Director of Children’s Services, Emma Taylor, will also be in attendance to highlight the Council’s highly competitive package which includes flexible working, multiple employee benefits, professional support and a wealth of training opportunities.

Judged by Ofsted as having ‘good’ children’s services, with ‘outstanding’ judgements for leadership and management and adoption,  the Council understands the complexities and challenges of the job. The Winsford Children in Need Team also won the coveted ‘Team of the Year’ accolade at the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2017, placing Cheshire West and Chester amongst the highest achieving authorities in the sector.

Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Cheshire West and Chester Council commented: “We want to recruit and train the most talented and dedicated people to improve the life chances of our children and families and are looking for the next generation of social workers to come forward and further develop our workforce.

"In return we can offer a high level of support and continuous learning and development - we have successfully 'grown our own' high performing permanent senior practitioners and team managers and are keen to continue this trend with our next generation of social workers.
"We really believe that Cheshire West and Chester is a great place to live and work and would encourage committed social workers who want to provide high-quality services for children and their families to come along and see what we have to offer”.
