Media students put their creative work on public display

10 February 2021

A new series of diverse, locally-made films is on display this month at community arts space Cine Window in Winsford Cross shopping centre.
The ‘Student Showcase’ presents the work of creative media students at Warrington and Vale Royal College.

With many shops closed and residents only being allowed to visit Winsford Cross for essential shopping, the films are also able to be viewed on Cine Window’s Facebook, Instagram and website. Daniel Harrison, creative media lecturer at Warrington and Vale Royal College, said: “The Cine Window provides our fantastic students with an opportunity to showcase their hard work over the past year, it has been a challenging time for everybody and to be able to present examples of the students’ dedication and creativity to the Winsford area is amazing.

“We would like to thank everybody involved for this collaboration and hopefully we can provide more creative projects in the near future.”
Artist Cath Campbell, creative producer of Cine Window Winsford, said: “Our new display highlights the rich talent by local students and the opportunities available for learning about film making at Warrington and Vale College.

“There is a diverse mix of genres including action, drama, music videos, and documentaries. Public health guidance requires us to be at home so the films can also be viewed on Cine Window website and social media.”

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “Cine Window is a thriving community art space. It celebrated residents’ resilience during the pandemic in an impactful display of portrait photos of Winsford’s key workers over the Christmas period.

“The latest display features the work of creative media students and can be viewed by people as they carry out their essential shopping during this lockdown or online. The chance to show their talents to the community is a wonderful opportunity and Winsford Cross will continue to offer this in the future.”

The films will be on display through February 2021, and Cine Window is also exhibiting a series of screen shots, capturing six dramatic portraits from selected films.

This new programme at the Cine Window Winsford has been made possible with support from the DCMS Cultural Recovery Fund awarded as part of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cultural Services.

Cine Window Winsford is a community space for showcasing, nurturing and inspiring film making in Winsford. It has a free exhibition space for local artists, photographers, crafters and makers. If you would like to exhibit your work there in the future, contact cinewindowwinsford@gmail.com for more information.
