Environment Day is big success in Wolverham
10 June 2019Residents and staff joined forces to help give their neighbourhood a spring clean during an Environment Day held in Wolverham.
Around 40 people joined in and collected litter from the area, as well as planting seeds and tidying up the local community centre and park.
The day was organised by ForHousing to promote their Neighbourhood Promises and was supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council, who provided tools and resources.
Sharon Wallace, Strategic Housing Lead at ForHousing, said: “Our neighbourhood promises are all about working in partnership with communities to create better places that make more things possible for more people. We are delighted with the success of Wolverham’s Environment Day with support from Cheshire West and Chester Council. The project has made a real difference in improving the local environment, and it was great to see so many local people taking part.”
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said: “This is a perfect example of what communities can do to support our Love Your Streets campaign. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved and did their bit.
“I’m delighted our new ASIST officers (Area Streets Information and Solutions Team) were able to help out and we provided tools from our volunteering toolbank to support the event. Spades, litter picks, bags, gloves and hi-vis vests are available for any volunteering group to use free of charge for light maintenance and community clean up events.”
