Advice on saving money on energy bills at Wyvern House
15 January 2019People looking to save money and start the New Year with a new leaner household budget will be offered energy saving advice at Wyvern House this month.
Citizens Advice, one of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s partners in the Public Services Hub at Wyvern House, Winsford, is taking part in the Big Energy Saving Week, from 21 January to 25 January.
Experts will be available to speak to residents at a special stand on Monday 21 January, 10am-1pm, offering advice on how people can save money on fuel and energy bills, and offering energy-related giveaways.
There will also be information available on Qwest Energy, which is a new platform formed as a joint venture company between; Cheshire West and Chester Council, energy company, ENGIE and Cheshire based service provider, Qwest Services.
Qwest Energy have recently introduced their highly competitive low-cost fuel tariff September 21, offering fixed standing and unit rate charges to September 2021. This initiative will support local residents in Cheshire West and also in parts of Merseyside, North Wales and the Midlands and will help towards the Council`s Plan for 2016-20, to eradicate fuel poverty in the borough.
Offering 100 per cent renewable electricity as standard, Qwest Energy has also introduced the Qwest Energy Community Fund, which could see up to £600,000 invested back into local initiatives, over the next five years.
Throughout the rest of the week, from 9am-noon, Citizens Advice staff will be giving advice on the benefits of the Priority Services Register. It offers additional support to people most in need, such as pensioners, disabled, chronically sick or with sight/hearing difficulties.
Councillor Karen Shore, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “Big Energy Saving Week has a history across the country of helping people to save money on their essential bills.
“They have benefitted through making savings by finding out how to change supplier and making energy efficiency savings such as draught proofing, turning appliances off.
“Public services are working together effectively at Wyvern House to help our communities to thrive and this is one of a number of events planned this year which will benefit the people of Winsford.”
The refurbished facility on the ground floor is home to Job Centre Plus, the Work Zone and Citizens Advice. Also on site are Forhousing and Weaver Vale Housing Trust Work and Enterprise team which work alongside Council services making it easier for residents to get all the help they need.
