Door Step Crime

Alert message sent 26/09/2017 10:06:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Morning,

There has been reports in Great Boughton about door step crime but we felt that it is worth the whole of the  Chester LPU being made aware.

PCSO DENBY says "I’ve been made aware of some doorstep type crimes happening across Cheshire this last month.  People claiming to be from organisations such as “the water board” “the gas company” “the council” knocking on doors + gaining access to people’s houses in order to commit crime either at the time of the visit or at another date.

There is a really simple way of stopping this type of crime.  JUST SAY NO! You are under NO obligation to let people into your home, no matter what organisation they say they are from.  Always ask to see people’s Identification, and even then, if you are not 200% happy with the person, DON’T LET THEM IN! Call the police and we will be happy to come out and verify any doubts over identities.

I want Great Boughton to be the safest area in the whole of Chester.  Let’s not give any would be thieves any opportunity at all to operate in OUR community".

Kind Regards
