Poynton November Newsletter
This month we have received reports of purses being stolen from distraction thefts around supermarkets in Poynton. The offenders are working in pairs when targeting their victim; one will distract them whilst the other steals the purse. Two distraction attempts reported to us are; asking for help to read ingredients from a packet and asking for directions from a map. Please be vigilant by protecting your personal items.
- leave bags unattended.
- leave your bag open
- leave your purse in view.
- report stolen cards to your bank and inform Cheshire Police on 101.
- Dial 999 in an emergency.
Lead up to Christmas.
In the lead up to Christmas we ask you all to be extra vigilant and ensure you are carrying out all security measures when it comes to your home, vehicle and personal belongings. Christmas time is a busy time for all including criminals. Please make sure Christmas presents are not left in your vehicle overnight and that it is also locked and secured.
As the temperatures drop we ask that you never leave your car unattended whilst de-icing and make sure your windscreen is fully defrosted before setting off on your journey.
During the festive season we understand you wish to celebrate and have fun, but please be mindful it can also provide an opportunity for those who are vulnerable to be taken advantage of, so please consider your own personal safety. We advise that you do not carry large amounts of money on you.
