Distraction Theft - Be on your guard

Alert message sent 05/07/2019 10:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Distraction thefts are common place in supermarkets cafes and restaurants when people are caught off guard. Usually working in pairs one person will ask for directions or make small talk while the other offender will conceal your items when you are not looking. Mobile phones laptops I-pads wallets and purses are all popular choices. To avoid becoming a victim of such thefts keep your items safe in handbags or pockets. Consider using purse bells which will sound if an offender makes a move on your property. These can be located on line or via your local officer.
