Over the last month we have had increased reports of different Scams in the area.  Below is information to assist in reducing these.
Your bank or Police will never;
1 phone and ask you for your PIN code or full banking password, or request that you to tap such numbers in to your key pad.
2 Ask you to withdraw money to hand over to them for safekeeping.
3 Ask you to transfer money to a safe account for fraud reasons, even if they say that the account is in your name.
4 Send someone to your home to collect cash, PIN codes, cards or chequebooks if you are a victim of fraud.
5 Ask you to buy goods using your card and then hand them over for safekeeping.
Common fraud types
Romance dating fraud
HM Revenue and customs fraud
Courier fraud
Computer software service
Investment fraud/pension liberation
Lottery scams
Report it
If you are a victim of fraud that is a crime in progress and you need an immediate Police response, dial 999.
