Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello resident,
please see the below information on a current scam.  Information supplied by Halton Trading Standards.
 DVLA scam email
Halton Trading Standards wishes to warn consumers of a scam DVLA email currently circulating. The email is a phishing email, with the view to extract consumer’s personal information, bank details and passwords.
A quick examination of the email shows it has not come from the DVLA, but in fact an email address ending in In addition, another point to note is that the email does not address the consumer by name (this is because the scammers don’t know the consumer name), so they just repeatedly use the email address instead. Finally, the threat at the bottom of the email, stating they may suspend your DVLA account. All the above are classic signs of a scam email.

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of Halton Trading Standards specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
