West Cheshire Youth and Community Awards 2019
The second West Cheshire Youth and Community Awards are being held to celebrate and reward the work of our young people in west Cheshire. The awards will also recognise projects and the work carried out by dedicated individuals and groups to support our young people to help them thrive, grow and flourish.
The awards will be presented at an event on Friday 13 September 2019, 6.30pm – 9.30pm, at Northwich Memorial Court, Chester Way, Northwich CW9 5QJ. The event is by invite only.
Nominations for the awards are open until 5pm on Wednesday 31 July. Please note any nominations submitted earlier this year will be automatically included in the judging panel for this event.
There are nine award categories:
||Who is it for
|Young Volunteer of the Year
||This award recognises a young volunteer in the community who gives up their time to help others and do for others, given the pressures young people have with schools and friendships. This is an unpaid role.
|Young Person Care for Others
|This award recognises a young person with extra responsibilities, someone who given their circumstances is still achieving, supporting others and overcoming barriers. We are especially keen to hear from people who empower others and advocate on other people’s behalf.
|Young Person Outstanding Achievement
||This award recognises a young person who has contributed to their community in an outstanding way. This award is for a young person who has achieved more than their years and can be proud of their achievements.
|Young Person Equality and Diversity Champion
||This award is for someone who has overcome a barrier and challenged diversity. It is for someone who has challenged inequality in some way and promotes rights, someone to watch in terms of empowering others.
|Mental Health or Wellbeing Project
||Mental health is the most important issue to young people in west Cheshire. We know this because of Make Your Mark data. We want to hear from a project that has listened to the needs of young people and has worked innovatively and creatively to support young people’s emotional health and wellbeing.
|Inspirational Youth Worker
||This award is for young people to recognise a youth worker who has gone above and beyond to support them. This award is about someone who has left a young person feeling inspired, changed and has helped them to grow and develop. This is the role of a youth worker ordinarily but this award is about someone who has gone the extra mile.
||This award recognises a youth work project that has stepped in early to support a family or a community with specialist targeted support. The project must have brought together services and contributed to early help and interventions.
|Partnership of the Year Award
||This award recognises a partnership approach to working with young people. It is about a youth community and voluntary organisation that have worked together to achieve better outcomes for young people in their locality.
|Adult volunteer of the year
||This award recognises someone who volunteers in the community working with young people. The work is unpaid and benefits children and young people. Young people, staff, volunteers and members of the community can nominate this person. There will be recognition for one volunteer in each of the Cheshire West and Chester Council localities.
We know there are lots of young people and youth workers in west Cheshire worthy of nomination and want to make sure we hear from as many people as possible. Please share the online nomination form
